To live is to fly...

It's been a couple weeks since our last post and subsequently a week off from practicing acro.  However, Mel and I have been nourishing other parts of our lives and in turn will be ready to come back with full force this coming week to tackle "the throne" pose.  As far as all the other great adventures we've been up to: Mel and Dan went down to play in the desert(Coyote Gulch in Escalante, ayyy yi yi if you ever get a chance to spend time in Escalante, JUST SAY YES!; it's an amazing place).  I'll let Mel fill you in on the sky high time they had together. I watched Hero, their scraggly, playful, curious, mellow and well-behaved mutt.  We went on warm evening walks to water the garden, to the coffee shop to read more of A Field Guide to Getting Lost(of all places to be at in the book, the desert of New Mexico, where Melody grew up is where we last left off appropriately enough), and posed with cyclists outside Ibis, the woman murmuring "I love you Hero" as they pedaled away after a 20 mile ride.  He's quite the attention grabber with those curls on top.  With Melody off hiking and building up muscle and sinew in the southern red rock I have been gardening in the 70 degree weather Logan has been having, trying to be consistent with my half marathon training and going to yoga a few times a week at Balance to build up my core strength.  Have ya'll done planks before?  Hardest minutes of my life, but the burst of energy felt from sticking through them is worth it. Hero and I are off for our last walk and café rendezvous before Melody and Dan return to reunite with him; I'll miss the little fella with his heating pad and chew toys at my feet and his steady breathe in the middle of the night.  As much as I've missed practicing the past week I believe the stories of zesty explorations we'll bring back to one another is a part of the playfulness that IS acro yoga.  As Townes Van Zandt sang, "To live is to fly, low and high, so shake the dust off of your wings, and the sleep out of your eyes."
